A collection of memories and historical items of the paper mill and hamlet of Hele.
Hele lies on the junctions of the parishes of Bradninch Silverton and Broadclyst, near Exeter in Devon.

Paddy is a member of the Hele Conservation Society and has produced this local history book from the archives the society has collected about the people who have worked in the paper mill. There are several items of personal memories going as far back as the early 20th Century. Other items have been researched on the history of the dwellings and structures of activity in Hele in the past, along with human interaction with the landscape. It starts as recorded in the Domesday book of 1086.
The book has been professionally printed by Short Run Press Ltd. It size is 225x178mm; 170 pages of items including approx. 80 pages of illustrations and photographs in black & white with two pages of colour illustration. Coloured limp cover (as pictured right), illustrated front and back.

‘MORE MEMORIES FROM THE MILL’
A companion book has just been published.
It has individual but related items; made up of recorded memories, some going back to the early twentieth century and some items from primary records and artefacts. This book is slightly larger than the first. It has 196 pages with approx 100 illustration in black and white photographs, maps and diagrams plus two colour pages. A local history study but covers general interests of work in a Paper Mill and of rural life in Devon in the past.
This second collection is of the same format as the first book. It is also produced and printed professionally by Short Run Press Ltd. Exeter.
